Local Community Service

The smile of a disadvantaged child when she opens her "Birthday Bag." The pride of a single mother at receiving her GED. The laughter of a boy with AIDS as he plays at Camp Heartland. The grateful tears from a homeless father as he receives food to feed his family. Rotarians are making a difference every day in the lives of people in need. Through our funding of non-profit organizations throughout the Twin Cities, we support communities of color, the handicapped, the disenfranchised, the elderly, the youth, the mentally ill, those in crisis, and those in need.

The Local Community Service Committee represents the members of the Rotary Club of Minneapolis in their support of local community service projects. The Committee does this by accepting applications for financial support, evaluating the requests, and recommending distribution of funds to nonprofit organizations that work toward improving the quality of life within the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Since 1980, the club's grants have totaled close to a million dollars. A current copy of the LCS Guidelines and Grant Application can be found on the Downloads page of this website.
